Vision for Kent
The Vision for Kent is the countywide strategy for the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of Kent’s communities.
The Vision is led by the Kent Forum, a partnership of the councils that provide services to the people of Kent, with input from the county’s public, private, voluntary and community sectors.
The Vision for Kent is an aspirational partnership strategy which sets out the three big ambitions for the county and aims to make Kent a better place over the next 10 years.
The three ambitions are:
- To Grow The Economy
- To Tackle Disadvantage
- To Put Citizens In Control

Vision for Kent Refresh
The Vision for Kent 2012-2022 formal consultation ran between 20 June and 22 August 2011 to make sure our actions reflect the priorities of the people of Kent and to influence the way we set about achieving these ambitions.
The feedback you have given us has influenced the proposed final version of Vision for Kent 2012-2022 which will go to the Kent Forum on 8 February 2012 to ask the Leaders of Kent County Council and District Councils to agree and sign up to it.

Why do we need it?
In Kent, a huge number of separate organisations contribute to making Kent the place that it is through services and support they provide. Some of these are working all over the county, and some are focussed on a specific town or area.
The three big ambitions that make up the ‘Vision for Kent 2012-2022’ provide shared overarching priorities for all organisations to work towards. We will only achieve the ambitions if all partners play their part by using them to help plan and prioritise the services they provide.
Why refresh the strategy?
The Vision for Kent was first published in 2002, in response to statutory guidance from the Local Government Act 2000 which stated that all local authorities should have a community strategy.
It was reviewed during 2005/06 on behalf of the Kent Partnership which was responsible for its delivery and implementation. The revised version was published in April 2006.
Kent is facing different challenges now and we need to respond to these. We know that money is going to continue to be tight and by focussing our efforts together on three big ambitions we can make the most of what we’ve got.
The Vision for Kent 2012-2022 also shows our commitment to making the most of some fantastic opportunities open to everyone in Kent, including giving people more control over how and where local services are delivered.
Further information on the 2002 and 2006 versions is available in the Kent Partnership pages of our website.
