Vision
for Kent - Overview
What is it?
The "Vision
for Kent" is the county wide community strategy
which is about the social, economic and environmental
wellbeing of Kent's communities over the next 20 years.
Who is it for?
The Vision for Kent is a long term and aspirational
document, aimed at partners from the public, private,
voluntary and community sectors, from all over the county.
A public version of the Vision is also available.
Who is responsible for delivering the Vision?
The Vision for Kent was first published in 2002, in
response to statutory guidance from the Local Government
Act 2000 which states that all local authorities should
have a community strategy. It has been reviewed during
2005/2006 on behalf of the Kent Partnership, which is
responsible for its delivery and implementation. The
partnership's role is to initiate actions to encourage
the fulfilment of the 8 Vision for Kent themes and Future
Challenges, identified as the key issues facing the
county over the next 20 years. The revised version was
published in April 2006
Who created the Vision?
The Vision is a result of extensive consultation with
partners all over the county. The consultation process
involved over 800 people from 240 organisations, from
the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.
The Vision for Kent is produced by Kent County Council,
as part of their statutory duty, on behalf of the Kent
Partnership.
