Vision for Kent - The Story So Far
The revised version of the Sustainable Community Strategy
- Vision for Kent was published in April 2006. Kent
County Council has led a robust and collaborative review
of the Vision, on behalf of the Kent Partnership over
the last year.
The original Vision for Kent (V4K) was first published
in 2002. The revised version sought to build on the
success of the first document, and engage stakeholders
and partners across Kent in refreshing the Vision for
the next 20 years.
Aims of the Consultation Process
The aims of the Vision for Kent consultation process
were to:
- Enable stakeholders to input, comment upon and
generally influence the V4K
- Ensure clear linkages between the V4K and all other
relevant strategies and plans
- Produce an expression of common vision, priority
and purpose, built upon goodwill and common interest
- Disseminate/Increase public awareness of the V4K
Who has been involved?
The consultation process involved partners from the
public, private, voluntary and community sectors across
the county.
The consultation was primarily aimed at:
- Members of the Kent Partnership
- District Councils
- Local Strategic Partnerships
- Other organisations who have a county-wide or regional
interest
The early stages of the intensive consultation process
were not aimed at communities and members of the public.
This was because the review was of a high level, strategic
nature and many stakeholders who were engaged in the
process had already undertaken relevant public and community
consultations that the Vision for Kent could draw upon.
Now the Vision is adopted it is widely available to
everyone and a public summary is also available.
