The Kent Agreement 1 - Economic Development and Sustainable
Communities
Block 4
Overview
Economic prosperity is deliberately placed to the fore
because it represents the core of Kent's Supporting
Independence Programme which aims to reduce dependency
through increasing employment and fulfilment. Partners'
own service provision and employment and their ability
to facilitate change can influence prosperity in Kent.
Partners are addressing a range of issues which aim
to transform the local economy. This includes the skills
agenda, supporting initiatives leading to business innovation
and productivity gains, supporting entrepreneurship,
inward investment and business development initiatives
and by investing in infrastructure.
The inclusion of outcomes relating to homes links in
with the Office
of the Deputy Prime Minister's (ODPM) regional housing
strategy. This reflects both the scale of the agenda
and the commitment to integrated planning and development
to deliver lasting outcomes that promote and improve
the prosperity of Kent's people and their communities.
